Senior Citizen Dinner

Every year the youth in our ward put together and hold a thanksgiving dinner for the senior citizens in our ward, and their friends. It went really well this year and they enjoyed themselves, which was the goal.
Misi spent the day cooking the eight 17lbs turkeys in a big umu at Bishop Aiu's farm. After which we shredded the meat to make kalua turkey. It turned out so yummy. Along with the turkey there was stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green salad, fruit salad, pumpkin pie and custard pie. What a great menu right? They thought so.
Bishop Brown was the MC and entertainment for the night, and he did such a great job, as always. I think it was a great experience for the youth to serve our senior citizens and spend time with them. I know I really enjoyed being there and putting a smile on their face. They're so cute.

Trunk-or-Treat

Trunk-or-treats are always fun. The youth in our ward were in charge of the games for the primary kids, and we came up with some really fun activities for them....pin the nose on the witch, ring toss, cupcake decorating, bean bag toss, donut string eating, and others.
Everyone was so darn cute, I loved watching them really act the part of their costume.
Halloween in Kahuku is the cutest sight to see. Because it's such a small community, the roads are pretty much blocked off and completely swamped with trick-or-treaters young and old. The music plays and the barbecue grills throughout the night. It's like a big family party.

A Night of Music

Last night we went to a Fireside featuring the Jets. Moana is in one of the Laie wards, and since the Jets are in Hawaii to perform at The Mega 80's and 90's Music Festival, she was able to get her siblings to do a little Fireside for the community. It was so neat hearing their stories and meeting the backbone of the group: their parents. But let me just say, they still got it!
After listening to the Jets, we made our way over to the Na Drua concert for some good reggae vibrations. And what made them even cooler is they're from Utah :)
