Week 17 - Gender Reveal!

We went in to the "big" ultrasound yesterday.
Baby is doing great!
Doc says baby is healthy and strong, has long legs and is SUPER active.
He says baby is a little small, so we'll have to check on that in another four weeks to see if the due date needs to be adjusted.

We wanted to shared with our family members the gender of our baby before we let the world know, so we invited them over for a barbecue and little gender reveal.
My friend Kiki has a cupcake business, so I ordered cupcakes from her (her cupcakes are so yummy!).
Everyone could either choose the cupcake with the blue topper, or the pink topper.
Everyone went with blue, except for Vita, and Losa
(Losa said she wanted to go with blue, but went with pink since everyone else went with blue)
We called my parents in Utah via Face Time, and Misi bit in to the cupcake for them (they chose blue too)
On the count of three everyone took a big bite and saw that the frosting was.....
PINK!!!!!!

WE'RE HAVING A BABY GIRL!!!!!!
Honestly, I was kind of surprised.  (Misi was in shock!).
I just felt like it was a boy.
Even though I kept having dreams it was a girl.
Hmmm, my mother's intuition needs some fine tuning!
When the ultra sound technician said it was a girl, we were both like "what!? are you sure?"
She ensured us that it was a girl, but said the doctor would come in to give us a second opinion.
She had to get some measurements, but baby was making it so difficult.
First, she wouldn't stop moving around.
Second, she wouldn't get off of her head.
The tech kept jabbing at my stomach, trying to get baby to move,
but baby just kicked her!
The tech started laughing and was like "there's a girl for ya!"
So the doctor came in, and got a picture of baby with her legs wide open for the world to see that
Yes, indeed, she is a girl.
I asked the doctor if there was any way that maybe the "family jewels" were just too small to see right now and maybe they'll grow in a little more later?
Misi jumped in and was like "no, no, no, if it's my boy, that won't be a problem!"
hahaha! the doc got a good laugh out of that :)
Then he said "you would have to pray really really hard, because that would be a miracle"
So after two opinions, six times, we left the doctors office all giddy and in shock that we're having a little princess Livai.
We of course had to celebrate by going out to eat!
We talked the whole night about how our lives are going to be changed forever and how excited we are to have a precious little girl.
We're so excited!
Misi's already planning on buying his first shot gun!
So there you go.
A baby girl!

Here's the Video of everyone biting in to their cupcakes and finding out the great news!

Week 14-Week 16

Not much has been going on in the baby area.  I'm too early to feel any movement, and I haven't been to the doctors for a few weeks, so I'm just kinda floating around until the next time we get to see baby on the ultra sound.

It was so cute that baby was covering it's face during the ultra sound!  We got a good laugh out of it, even the doc!  It's been kinda hard to last the whole day without a nap, but it's getting a little better.  Still peeing like crazy though :)

I'm starting to really show, especially when I lift my shirt up and show Misi my chubby belly.
I've been doing great at working out every day.  I was able to run 9 miles this week! and my strength is returning, so I can lift more than last trimester, which makes me happy.
Hopefully we find out the baby's gender next week at the "big" ultrasound.
I kinda think it's a boy, but I keep dreaming that it's a girl.
I don't know.
I secretly want a boy.
I think I'm scared of having to raise a girl.
They seem so much more complicated than boys.
But regardless, I'm just as excited!

Valentine's Day

My friend Asher, and I decided to put together a little somethin somethin for our husbands, for Valentines Day. We actually did it the night before Valentines, so that the actual Valentine Day was open for other plans.

We put together a scavenger hunt for the hubbies to go on.  There were about 10 clues on bright pink hearts.  Each clue lead them to a place that we've made memories at as friends, throughout Kahuku and Laie.  At each location, they had to do something and document it.  Stuff like sing a song, take a picture, make a card.  The last clue led them back to our place where Asher and I had made dinner for them.  They said they had a blast, and we enjoyed hearing all about their little adventure as they showed us the evidence (the pictures and videos).

It was a great Valentines Day and it was nice to do something for the husbands this year, instead of the other way around :)

The Clues!

The Dinner

Bacon Cheeseburgers

The "Treasure" at the end of the hunt! haha!

Task: take a picture by the "Creature of the Year"
Funny side note: When they got to Laie Chop Suey, Misi told Michael "I bet the girls ordered dinner and we have to pick it up" so he goes to the cashier and says "order for Livai."  The girls, (who know what's going on) say "no, I'm sorry, there's no order for Livai" so Michael asks them "is there a pink heart for Livai?" and the girls started laughing and said "yup, there sure is!" Misi was like "moded in my face!" LoL!

Task: Take a picture at the Temple.
Funny side note: they asked this lady to take a picture of them, and she just couldn't get it right.  She got one where they were completely out of focus, and one where they looked like shadows.  She was having trouble with the third shot, so they started walking towards her to help her out and then SNAP! she takes the picture! They gave up after that!

Task: Take a picture with Ronald
Funny side note: As they were trying to get a picture of them with Ronald, a lady who was working there looked at them weird and asked if they needed help, Misi said "oh, let me explain" and she cuts him off and says "no, no, it's fine, I don't need to know" hahaha! the boys were like "no, let us explain! please!" hahaha! good times!

Task: Write I Love You in the sand (it was dark and they couldn't get a good picture)

Task: make a Valentine Card using the picture from the Temple
Like how it's a Christmas card? LoL!

On the Video: More Tasks :)

Vita's Mission Call

My brother in law Vita got his mission call!
we skyped the family so they could all be a part of the opening of his call.

He will be serving in the....LAS VEGAS NEVADA mission!!!!
He reports the first week of April!Congrats Vita and best of luck!

Baked Smores

I pinned this to my "Sweets" Board on Pinterest a while back.
(But it's now on my "I Did It" board)
We had a barbecue this weekend, and we needed a dessert.
As I went through my pins, I saw this lovely picture and started to drool.
That's how I knew it was the one.
My friend Asher also had it pinned to her board - It was fate.
So she came over and we made us some baked smores!
It's really easy, and the recipe can be found HERE
We were in the middle of making a bunch of other things for the barbecue
so I wasn't able to get as many pictures as I would have liked, of the whole process.
But in a nutshell, it goes like this:

Make the crust.  Press onto bottom of pan.

Place chocolate on top of crust

Cover with 2 jars of Marshmallow Creme/Fluff then cover with another layer of crust.

Bake. COOL COMPLETELY. enjoy.
Doesn't that just look sublime! gosh I'm drooling again.
Here's the Recipe.  We changed a few things, like we doubled the crust recipe so the crust was thicker, which I think really paid off, there would have been too much chocolate and marshmallow in comparison if we hadn't.  Also, we used a bigger sized pan.

Baked S'mores
From The Apron Gal
recipe courtesy Baked Perfection
Modified by JaM

Ingredients
1 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 large egg
2 tsp vanilla
2 2/3 cups flour
1 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs (approximately 7 full graham crackers)
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 super-sized (5 oz.) chocolate bars (e.g. Hershey’s)
2  jars of marshmallow creme/fluff (not melted marshmallows)

Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Grease bottom of 13x9 pan
In a large bowl or stand mixer, cream together 1/2 cup butter and 1/4 sugar until light. Beat in 1 large egg and 1 tsp vanilla.
In a small bowl, whisk together 1 1/3 cups flour, 3/4 cups graham cracker crumbs, 1 tsp baking powder and 1/4 salt.
Add to butter mixture and mix at a low speed until combined.
press dough into an even layer on the bottom of the prepared pan. Place chocolate bars over dough.
Spread marshmallow fluff evenly over the chocolate layer.
Place dough in a single layer on top of the creme. This is most easily done by putting the dough in a gallon size freezer bag. Use your palms or rolling pin to flatten it out, and then use scissors to cut down both long sides of the bag, so it will open up book-style. Open it up carefully, and the dough will stick on one side of the bag. Then place the bag, dough side down, on the other three layers. From there peel the bag up and carefully spread the dough where it is uneven.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until lightly browned. Cool completely or almost completely for the melty factor before cutting into bars.
This should really be enjoyed with a cold glass of Milk.

A Great Weekend

We had a great weekend.  Lot's of food and laughter - (My usual equation for a good time).
Joey and Losa make this MEAN marinade for short ribs and chicken.  We actually barbecued at their place a few weeks ago and the food was so good, we just had to have a re-do.  So they did the marinading of the meats the night before, and again the short ribs and chicken turned out perfect! We also grilled some all-beef Redondo hotdogs (Misi's favorite)
Asher and I made the salads and dessert.  We threw together a great green salad with veggies of all sorts and homemade baguette croutons - SO good!  Then we of course had to have the good ol' potato salad.  And for dessert we tried out a recipe from Pinterest called "Baked Smores" and they came out amazing! oh my gosh, I'll post the recipe right after this post, because you HAVE to try it!
Later on in the evening we were all still feeling pretty fat from all the eating, so we took a ride down to BYUH to long board around campus.  Wow, it's getting harder and harder to long board with the extra weight in the front of me....I know I don't have much of a bump, but I feel like my center balance is all out of whack already! haha! excuses, excuses.

Anyway, I wanted to show you this shirt my mom sent me....

In case you can't read it, it says: I Can Grow People...What's Your Super Power?
Isn't that so funny?  Thanks Mom!

We celebrated Martin Luther King Jr Day enjoying the North Shore.

We had breakfast at Ted's Bakery

Went long Boarding at BYUH

Grabbed some Mango Smoothies from L&L

And spent the rest of the day Boogie and Body Boarding at Hukilau Beach.
